Schedule back-to-school exams six weeks before school starts

Have kids participating in fall activities? It’s important to get an early start.

Kids participating in fall activities should schedule back-to-school exams at least six weeks before the new season starts. This recommendation is straight from the American Academy of Pediatrics. It's meant to find families time to address new health concerns before the first day of school.

Exams for all ages
A well-child visit at Stillwater Medical Group clinic covers all your child’s back-to-school health care needs. Unlike retail clinics, we offer comprehensive care that focuses on your child’s complete health – physical, developmental and behavioral. Depending on your child’s age, visits include a check of height and weight, body mass index (BMI), developmental milestones, vision, hearing and blood pressure. We’ll also review and update immunizations – including annual flu shots – and discuss safety habits.

More than a physical exam
We check your child's total health. We'll answer your questions about stress, behaviors, learning and eating disorders and more. We want your kids well-adjusted and in a good place physically and emotionally. When kids are feeling good inside and out, it really shows.

Sports physicals
For kids in school sports, a well-child visit can also include sports clearance. Bring any sports or school-required forms to your appointment and we’ll help you complete them. Download the 2018-2019 Minnesota State High School league clearance form. Stillwater Medical Group's four convenient neighborhood clinics offer same-day, evening and Saturday appointments for kids in Pediatrics and Family Medicine.
