About Lakeview Hospital Volunteers
Volunteers at Lakeview Hospital are an important part of our team. If you are an active, compassionate person with time to share, we'd like to talk to you! We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities (see below) and a friendly, caring work environment. Most volunteers work one 4-hour shift a week. Because of hospital screening and training requirements, we ask adult volunteers to make a 6-month minimum commitment.
Benefits of Volunteering
- Flexible scheduling
- Excellent training
- Free meal before or after volunteering a shift of three hours or more
- Pharmacy discount
- Free, ample parking
- Invitation to spring luncheon
- Supportive staff and positive work environment
Becoming Involved
Process of Becoming a Volunteer
- Complete the online volunteer application.
- After receiving the application, the volunteer coordinator will contact you. If your skills and availability meet a need at the hospital, an interview will be scheduled. You will need to bring a letter of reference from someone who is not a family member.
- If selected for a volunteer position, you will meet with a nurse for a brief health screening. This will include a review of your immunizations and a Mantoux text (screening for TB). In rare cases, additional screening may be needed.
- A criminal background check will be conducted if you are over 18 and working in patient care areas.
- Hospital orientation is held the third Monday of every month from 8:00 a.m. to noon. After attending orientation, you will begin training for your specific volunteer position.

We are no longer accepting applications for the summer student session due to the volume of applications received. The next student session will begin in October. If you have already submitted an application, you do not need to re-apply; simply send an email to the volunteer office in mid-September to let us know of your interest.
