Find peace of mind

You may not be at risk for chlamydia, but if you are, or might be, screening can help protect you.

If you are having unprotected sex, give yourself peace of mind and get screened.

3 reasons to get screened

  1. Chlamydia has no symptoms in over 75 percent of females and young adults.
  2. Peace of mind knowing you don’t have it, or if you do, you can take action to treat it.
  3. Address it early, if you do have it, to avoid life-changing health impacts like pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility.

Questions? Here’s what you need to know:

What is chlamydia? How does it impact me?
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease that, when left untreated, can cause permanent damage to a woman’s reproductive system, making it difficult or impossible for her to get pregnant. Learn more about the impacts.

What does screening include?
Screening is simple, usually a basic urine test.

Make sure not to urinate for two hours before a urine sample is collected.

What about treatment?
If you do test positive for chlamydia, treatment is quick, typically a single course of antibiotics.

How do I know if I’m at risk?
You may be at risk for chlamydia if you are having unprotected sex.

I am on my parent’s health plan.  Is screening confidential?
Yes. By law, if you are age 13 or older your information is confidential, even if you are on your parent’s health plan. You may receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) in the mail addressed to you that lists the screening as a “lab test”. You can request that your EOBs be sent via email instead of U.S. mail by changing your preferences at
