Rheumatology
Rheumatology is a medical field that manages primarily conditions called autoimmune diseases that result from abnormal inflammation. Many times, this inflammation affects joints with swelling and pain - such as in rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthopathies, or gout. However, in other conditions such as lupus, vasculitis, and other connective tissue diseases, the inflammation can affect other organ systems as well.
