Thursday, November 08, 2018 - Lakeview Hospital receives fifth straight A grade for patient safety

The Leapfrog Group has given Lakeview Hospital an A grade for patient safety for the fifth consecutive time.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent non-profit committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health system. A grades are awarded to the top performing hospitals for their efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.

“We are proud of the efforts we've made to achieve and - importantly - maintain an extremely high level of patient safety at Lakeview,” said Ted Wegleitner, President of Lakeview Hospital. “This simply does not happen without the guidance of our leaders and the care and dedication of our individual team members.”

Through its Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, released twice a year, the Leapfrog Group assigns a grade, A through F, to 2,500 hospitals based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.

Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
